Where You Know the Fire Nation Cast From Avatar: The Last Airbender

Like the majority of the young stars in the Avatar: The Last Airbender cast, the actors playing Zuko and Azula are relative unknowns. In fact, Yu’s first onscreen credit came in 2022, though she has already nabbed a role in the buzzy Todd Haynes movie May December, which is coming to Netflix this November. Liu has had a slightly longer career, having first appeared onscreen in 2009’s Tekken, following that up with roles in Bones, PEN15, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

While it is providing many of its young stars with a huge opportunity, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has brought on more seasoned performers for the adult roles. For instance, Ken Leung has been working for decades. After making a splash as Sang in 1998’s Rush Hour, he went on to star in movies including Red Dragon, Saw, X-Men: The Last Stand, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Old, alongside television shows such as The Night Shift and Industry.

Dae Kim, who is getting a chance to show off his villainous side, is perhaps the best-known of the bunch thanks to his roles on the prominent shows Lost and Hawaii Five-0. However, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee also scored a recent major hit playing Appa in the Canadian sitcom Kim’s Convenience. With these veteran performers filling out the world of the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender, the show will likely have the sense of gravitas required to highlight just how much of a threat they are to the rest of the world and the balance of the elements.
