New DC fan art imagines what Ben Affleck’s Batman would look like as the Red Death if his Bruce Wayne merged with The Flash. 2023 is marking the end of the DCEU, with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom set to wrap up the franchise at the end of this year. As the DCEU comes to a conclusion, it also means having to say goodbye to various portrayals of some of DC’s most iconic superheroes and supervillains.

One of them includes Affleck as Batman, who was unfortunately one of the actors whose solo movie never ended up happening despite having a major role within the DCEU. The Flash movie became Affleck’s final time reprising the role of the Dark Knight before Barry Allen’s time-travel actions left his existence up in the air in the new DC Universe canon.

As the world bids farewell to the DCEU, Arkin Tyagi shared new artwork of what Affleck’s Batman could have looked like if the franchise ever explored the Red Death storyline, where an alternative multiverse version of Bruce is fused with The Flash. This comes months after the Arrowverse did its own take on Red Death in The Flash season 9, where Ryan Wilder’s Batwoman doppelganger took on that identity in her universe.

What Is Next For Batman In Live-Action?

While Affleck’s time as Batman has come to an end, the Caped Crusader won’t be gone from the big screen for too long. James Gunn and Peter Safran have already confirmed that Batman is part of their early DC Universe plans, with Batman: The Brave and The Bold in development for Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters.” Set to be directed by Andy Muschietti, the movie will focus on Bruce learning about Damian Wayne’s existence and explore the complex father-and-son dynamic.

Outside the DC Universe, Warner Bros. Discovery is still continuing Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe with Robert Pattinson as the titular hero. Reeves is set to return to write and direct The Batman – Part II, with plot details currently being kept under wraps. While The Batman – Part II was eying a production start in November, the ongoing Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes could potentially push it back until 2024.

When it comes to the DC Universe’s version of Batman, it will be interesting to see who DC Studios end up casting as Affleck’s replacement. Whoever ends up getting the gig will be a major deal, especially as DC Studios strives to run the DC Universe as a new interconnected franchise. For now, fans can relive Affleck’s entire tenure as Batman in the DCEU, from his start in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to his final appearance in The Flash, on streaming or on Blu-Ray/DVD.
