Christopher Nolan’s James Bond movie is imagined in a new AI-generated poster, which features Cillian Murphy in the starring role. After first taking on the part in 2006 with Casino Royale, Daniel Craig bid farewell to the franchise with 2021’s No Time To Die. Following Craig’s departure, it’s been unclear who will play 007 next, or what director might usher in a new era for the franchise.

While the wait for news regarding James Bond 26 continues, new AI art shared by Dark on Instagram imagines what a Murphy and Nolan 007 collaboration might look like. Check out the art below:

The art features Murphy wielding a pistol and sporting a tuxedo, and it makes a strong case that the Irish actor would have been a solid choice for the role.

Will Christopher Nolan Ever Direct A James Bond Movie?

Nolan, who is best known for hit movies like The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer, has long seemed like a great fit for the Bond franchise. Inception and Tenet, after all, are basically 007 movies with sci-fi twists. The director himself is also a self-professed lover of Bond, saying in an interview with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast earlier this year that “the influence of those movies in my filmography is embarrassingly apparent.”

As for whether he would be interested in directing an installment in the franchise, Nolan has said that “it would be an amazing privilege“. However, the director also makes clear that directing a 007 movie – or working within any big franchise – often comes with various creative constraints. In order for him to consider taking on a Bond movie, he stressed that he would need to be in a place where he could bring the totality of his own vision for the character to life.

While the interest is there, then, it’s not clear if his creative conditions would be a deal-breaker or not. Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, after all, exert a great deal of control over the franchise. That being said, the ending of No Time To Die really wiped the slate clean for James Bond 26, and now seems like the perfect time to bring in a filmmaker like Nolan to put his own spin on things.
