Terrifier 3 Release Window Confirmed By Director 1 Year After Horror Sequel Became Viral Success-TGN

  • Director Damien Leone confirms that Terrifier 3 will be released in 2024, following the massive success of Terrifier 2.
  • The success of Terrifier 2, which made over $11 million at the domestic box office with a low budget, bodes well for the future of the franchise.
  • Leone has also hinted at the possibility of a Terrifier 4 and expresses his belief that the franchise has more stories to tell, indicating that he is dedicated to expanding Art the Clown’s universe.

Terrifier 3’s release window has been confirmed by the director following Terrifier 2’s massive success. From low-budget horror director Damien Leone, the series originated from the director’s 2011 short of the same name before being adapted as part of the 2013 anthology All Hallows’ Eve and solo 2016 movie. That film’s follow-up, Terrifier 2, was met with unprecedented box office success as audiences came in droves to see the slasher thrills of Art the Clown strike again.

As per Bloody Disgusting, the next Terrifier sequel now has a concrete release window. Leone confirmed that Terrifier 3 will be coming “next year” in 2024. Before then, the director says, there will be “some special surprises because a year is just too long to wait.” Check out the full quote from Leone below:

This year has been unlike anything we could have imagined. To see all the love Terrifier 2 has received and the excitement this release has inspired from fans new and old, is truly beyond words. As a thank you to them and the many people who worked tirelessly on this release, we want to bring it back to the big screen where it belongs. And more than that, while fans eagerly await the release of Terrifier 3 next year, we will be including some special surprises because a year is just too long to wait.

How Far Can the Terrifier Series Go?

In announcing the threequel’s release window, director Leone is right to thank Terrifier 2. Fans truly showed an “excitement” surrounding the 2022 sequel’s release, as the movie eventually made over $11 million at the domestic box office and over $15 million worldwide. This total is especially staggering given the limited publicity in advance of the sequel, as well as the fact that it had a mere $250,000 budget, which it ultimately made back more than 40 times over.

Leone has previously mentioned that he wrote the sequel with a Terrifier 3 teases in mind. Furthermore, the director has even hinted that he may need to make a Terrifier 4 to fit in all the story ideas that he has been developing for the threequel, and that it could even conclude the franchise. Thus, it seems Leone is far from done developing Art the Clown’s blood-soaked universe, as in his eyes, the Terrifier series has more stories to tell.

Terrifier 2’s success bodes incredibly well for its follow-up, as well as any future movies in the franchise that Leone hopes to make. Riding the coattails of the sequel, Terrifier 3 is much more likely to draw audiences in who have either seen its predecessor or heard about its buzz. The shorter gap between installments, going from six years between the first two movies to two years for the latter two, is also a good sign for Terrifier 3’s active development. With such a successful second film, Terrifier 3 seems likely to be the franchise’s biggest yet.
